as an american you wont be able to grasp higher forms of humour though

I wouldnt use that broad generalisations, they are pretty useless.

I heard a nice definition of humour once: "humour is the sublimation of melancholy"- one should never joke with humour, at its core, it is the human soul just begging the existence for mercy.
Pretty much like the souls of everyone logged on at KW is begging for mercy at the arrival of swordteacher 99 today.
