So, in the end, I switch IE back to the default browser so McAfee can get its updates.

Anyone use both Firefox and McAfee can enlighten me on this one?

Can't you use both: Firefox + IE. Firefox for surfing and IE for your updates. I don't trust IE. Scripting, Active X, etc. just makes surfing unsafe. I am very happy with Firefox.

I even donated for a firefox ad in one of Germanys big, conservative newspapers ;-) It simply is a great browser !
