This is the serious post so i'll post seriously here.
Kendo is a good thing to learn in terms of discipline, exercise, and perhaps spirituality. It is relatively strict compared to other sports such as baseball, football, soccer, etc. Compared to other martial arts, I think it is more traditional by far. A lot of martial arts nowadays are very "trendy" since that is what is eye candy to a lot of ppl. I like kendo because it keeps it's roots.
As far as starting out. Listening to your sempai (seniors/upperclassmen) and sensei are key as a green beginner. They will show you the ropes and how to follow the path.
