Basics of office layout
The office I work in is moving, and I have the ability to organize the workspace the way I want, instead of just using what was there when I arrived. The current space measures 10x12 cm with a desk on one wall, slanted tables on two walls, a filing cabinet with 2 drawers, and a pair of bookshelves. I use a desk for incoming papers, the first plan contains the work I'm evaluating, and the second plan contains plans that were recently evaluated, and I'm waiting for callbacks. Technical specifications and service notes are in the filing cabinet. This layout works well enough that I didn't change it, but now I have the option to do it. I don't think I can get away with making the space bigger than 10x12, and 10x10 would be an easier sell.
What is your ideal office size/layout for project evaluation and management? What do you think is necessary to maximize performance? My shortlist so far includes a wall monitor to make room on the desk; lights, lights, and even more light; a pocket door. What else should I have?
