I'm not at all worried about what it will be like in 20years. I waited till i was 20 till i got my first, so I really put alot of thought into it (7 years worth). The truth is that i didn't get tattooed because it was trendy. Most of the people I know tryed to dissuade me. My tattoos are a reflection of who I am, and where I have been. Each and every one has meaning, and memories attached to it. As my last tattoo artist said " Pain is the process, everything else is just a reminder." I do understand peoples views on this, and I do NOT advocate to anyone to get tattooed unless they are 100% sure. I've acctually turned away potential customers (I've done some tats for friends) because they were making a spur of the moment decision, and I didn't think they quite knew what they were getting into. It's there for life, so you beter be sure, lol. That and alot of people don't know how much it hurts. I was visiting a friend at a shop one day. Guy comes in, talking loudly to his friends about how "tough" he is, lmao. So Tommy (tattoo artist) get the drawing ready, puts on the stencil, and goes to town. Half inch line later the guy is out of the chair, screaming "F__k this sh_t, I ain't sitting through that!" Granted, stomach pieces hurt like hell, but make sure you know what you're getting into.
