So why do we got stuck with Mc Donalds over here? We also have Burger King which is in my opinion better than Mc Donalds. But that's about it. We had an Arby's at some time which is technically speaking not a Burger joint but quite nice all the time. But alas they're gone.
So you guys have:
Mc Donalds
Burger King
White Castle
In 'n Out
Wendy's
Tommy's
Quite a lot to choose from, I have to go there like I said just to get a taste. And also to find out about them famous Grits.

McDonalds is just one of the few restaurants that decided to put places abroad. They have the money to do so since they are found just about everywhere in America. These smaller places like White Castle are specific to areas in most cases. For example, Waffle House (not fast food) is a southern thing (on every corner in Atlanta), White Castle is found in the Midwest and In 'n Out is in Southern California.

The main reason why we have so many is because of the american culture to get something quick and good to eat as soon as possible. There is money to be had in a nation that needs precooked food.

About the Grits, they are VERY good. I always fix mine with cheese and butter. But remember, if you ever try grits, only try them in the southern reigon since that is where it is made best!
