I have seen the Yari in action in the UK. It was at an alternative weapons practise with Yari against Shinai and Naginata, it was very interesting as the distances are huge and harder than you would think to get passed the point.
Bit impractical in london though lugging a 4m long spear around on the underground system.
There was also some sickle with a tennis ball on a rope action which was truly bizarre.
