In the UK its very strict, no handguns. Actually theres very few crime here regarding guns, especially in Scotland.

But the thing is.. If you have a "no handgun" policy and it worked ideally, you shouldn't have any handgun crime. The slayings of those children at the school yard in GB a while back convinced me that a "no handgun policy" wouldn't be the solution to all problems. If crooks want a gun, they'll find one. If they don't have access to guns at all, they find something else. (swords, knives, bats, nails, etc)
