Tupelo is pretty small but it has grown significantly in the last 20 yrs ... I think the population is probably somewhere around the 50,000 mark by now. It's
relatively
close to a major city (Memphis (kendo!), ~110 mi. away).
It's not a bad place at all.... There are things to do there, but I don't know to what extent... read: night life (because I don't know what you're into). Obviously, being a small city, it doesn't offer all the big city stuff, but that's to be expected. You might trying doing an internet search on the town to see what's going on down there.
My mother grew up there when the population was around 5000 people.
It's pretty clean, fairly safe (from my understanding) (although there does seem to be some stereotypical redneck/white trash elements to be found.. but what southern town doesn't have that?)... and yes.. it's warm. It's HOT. AFRICA HOT in the summers. Rarely get snow in the winters.
