Charlotte is not a bad place to live... house prices are no where near what parts of Cali and some other areas (like NYC, Wash D.C area, Philly, Boston etc etc) have in store ...lol.. But I do think Charlotte has a bit more crime that the RTP area (it's about 2-2.5 hours drive to Charlotte from where I am in RTP).
