I think it would have to be Brazil.

Wow, I haven't thought much about The Big Blue since I saw it in the theaters when it first came out (1980s). I had no idea it was that popular (damn US-centricity).

The Big Blue. Watch the director's cut. Its 3 hours and the ending is different. Its like Brazil, the happy US cinema ending or Terry Gilliam's proper cut...Brazil had amazing visual icons...all my designers love it.
