i think i'm confused about kumdo vs. kendo federations. so there is a seperate kumdo federation and ranks are not interchangeable with kendo ranks? also, are 'kumdo' practitioners allowed to participate in kendo tournaments? just curious.

KKA is part of the IKF so their rank is recognized by any AUSKF dojo. Some KKA dojos participate in IKF shiais. Remnant, for example, competes in the SCKF shiais. USKU is the American version of WKA, and is not part of the IKF. They don't enter IKF shiais and their rank is not transferable from each other. USKU does accept any IKF rank, but apparently, not the other way around.

And what the hell is the KKAUSA? Korean Kumdo Association of USA. It's the US branch of KKA which is the Korean branch of IKF.
