if those buddies of yours are good buddies, you might want to tell them your situation and tell them to back off.

if they are not very good buddies, just laugh it off and tell them you are rather busy now days. something about hungry bushi still has toothpick in his mouth and look full or something. no need to tell everyone about your personal situation.

if you have to have kendo right now, go and talk to the sensei directly. find a way around paying the due, and still do the kendo.
