Yep the killing is quick, but large animals (cows, pigs, sheep) are shipped by the truckload and trainload to the slaughterhouse and guess what ?
They can smell blood, they can hear the other closer animals, they do know full well what is happening.
and
Sometimes it is one or two * * DAYS * * before it is their turn.
Think about it.
You are right they do get treated roughly, but they are not physically injured and in pain during this time unless they suffer a fall or are trampled. We often see the trucks heading down to the port here carrying sheep, most of the cattle go elsewhere.... yes mentally they suffer but what animal about to die doesn't? one to two days is better then the years american murders spend on death row.

Regardless, my points were
a) simply that if we are to kill animals it is best they are killed quickly and painlessly. What is shown in that clip is neither quick or painless.
b) most people don't care what happens to things they can't see in front of them.
