Yo, HB!

First, I gotta admit, Man, I'm not used to this level of honesty. Truth is, if you want to learn kendo, that humilty about character that you'll have to overcome will give you a good step up.

Second, please tell me what you mean by, "I didn't even get my first lesson." Do you mean you didn't bother to go, or that you went but didn't have a clue what they were trying to teach? If it's the latter, don't worry. That's where we all started. Now, I'm helping to teach, and guess what? In all that time (studying and helping others learn), I've never met anyone who coud master a basic grip, stance, and hayasuburi (that hoppy thing) on their first day.

Determination is easy to master. Just decide - is this somethig you want to learn? If it is, and you just continue to keep going to class, you will improve. Throw in a little practice at home, and you will improve a lot.

I take it you are a student? I bet you haven't 'dropped out' of school. Maybe you don't want to go; maybe your folks 'make' you go. But the point is, you can get up in the morning, go to class, pass tests, and learn. This is no different. If you go to class, you will learn.
