Give me the undulating hills, and the strong smell of the long Spring grass,
~The Meadowlarks' endless arguments with the Quail and Rock Dove.
The gullies where the Cows can congregate as speak of Salt-Licks.
The lonesome Oak;
-atop a hill of set afire with color as the sun retreats.
The din of wild wheat, golden and swaying; from an occasional Northern gust.
The immense Redwoods in the distance;
seen by the Cloud-dappled, endless expanse of rolling slopes.
There are Jackrabbits to be seen,
and grasshoppers to be caught.
-And all the while,
at long day's end,
the twilight coolness,
beckons me to come home.

-Kenzan
