really... if this whole story is on the up-and-up, what he needs to do is figure out a better/safer way of going to/from home/dojo..

He says he lives in Brooklyn. Mom and dad apparently have the ability to pony up $100/ month for NYC Kendo plus the Metrocard to get back and forth.
So we can probably guess that he doesn't live in a housing project.

He says he was visiting his friend's apartment and this broohaha breaks out in the hallway at 10:00 p.m.

Apparently nobody thinks it is unusal so nobody calls 911, nobody opens their door and nobody comes out.
Not likely.
My guess is that, if it happened at all, it is greatly embelished and he knows the other guy and there is something going on that he isn't telling.
