yeah it seems assholish how you ASSumed that i came and tried to get ahead of them in line. they know who i am and they know i've been doing kendo and have been 3-dan longer than they have been. i've been going to that dojo for about 7 years now, and i ALWAYS ask the sensei personally if i can practice, and i ALWAYS thank the sensei after practice. it's kinda obvious that the sensei and i have an UNDERSTANDING. i know he'll let me practice, and i know that he knows that i'm thankful. but i guess you never heard of this saying in kendo: kendo wa rei ni hajimari soshite rei ni owaru. kendo begins with and ends with rei. or does your dojo not teach you this aspect of kendo? that's exactly what i do and alot of other kenshi out there as well. i've been going to this dojo ALOT longer than these other kenshi. so this is MY second dojo. i have alot of second dojo, but yet i always seem to greet the sensei before i start practice and personally thank the sensei after practice. and dr.hillsing, i think i should be fired up about this. you know why? these are supposedly 3-dan. shouldn't they at least personally thank the sensei, do keiko honorably, and be exceptionally respectful to the dojo, its kenshi, and the sensei? or does being 3-dan give you the right NOT to excercise these practices and allow you to line up in front of everyone? i don't want dojos to produce these buremono kenshi. these dojos should be teaching kendo etiquette and not just waza. oh, but i guess that would just be assholish right?
You know, I wasn't trying to attack you when I wrote my post, I was just trying to add some reason behind their motives, but thanks for making it a flame. Question, were these people guests to this dojo or were they students. Were they older than you, you never answered that.
And honestly, I don't know the rank of half the people in my dojo...we can assume they don't know your rank. Besides, even if they knew your rank by your face, you do wear a men and it kind of disguises you (even with a zekken). Also, if the practice was going for 45 minutes before these people came, and according to you, took a long time to change, couldn't it be possible that you missed them bowing to the sensei? I mean, you sound like you would be the model student, diligent and humble, focused with every movement. You couldn't be aware of the movements of these guests even if you were superman, if you were oh so great as you say you are.
Like the rest of the people posting, i'm trying to say don't get so fired up over it, try to look at it through a different perspective and with reason. I was trying to give you that perspective...but then you had to go and talk about my own etiquette at my dojo (something you have no idea about).
So yeah, I'll finish like everyone else, stop whining, be more humble.
