I think max has a lot of good points even though he sounds like a Jack @$$. His actions are respectful even though his thoughts are not....you can’t really get on him because he does all the "right" things. In Japan even when you don’t want to do something for your A-hole senpai, you have to do it. The senpai does not care if you like them or not, and they don’t care about what you think (It takes a big A-hole to think like this), all they care about is your actions. Is kendo not a reflection of a certain part of Japanese culture??? MAX can think disrespectfully if he wants to, all he is expected to do is “show” respect. So who is really wrong here????? Max who is doing the reigi tadashii things or the “chicken $hit” people that are being gyogi warui???? For the people that are still new to kendo (10 years or less) how would you know what its like to be in the position that max is? He may not deserve respect morally, but he should get it at the dojo. Isn’t part of kendo being humble and learning about humility? If max is as well mannered as he says he is, I believe that he has paid his dues to his senpai over the years( sounds like he is bitter about it hahaha), but when you get people that are new to kendo….sometimes they don’t abide by the same rules that applied to you. Some people that are new to kendo understand this kinda “sucky” but Atari mai part of kendo…manners, senpai/kohai, the Japanese culture…if you do not agree with this stuff, well maybe you should not be doing something at is dominated by these ideas. Monku attara deteke!!!! Sounds harsh…but you all have free will to stay in kendo or quit… part of doing kendo is being a part of this world.
