Oh, incidentally I was down in Hiroshima when the biggish one hit Kyushu in spring 2005. That was fun. We were in the middle of testing for Japanese classes, and the buildings started shaking. Had to stay an extra day there because the trains got all screwed up and I knew I'd never manage to make it back to Takayama on a free-seat ticket.

Honestly sort of cool. As long as they stay in the 4.x or low 5.x range, they can be kind of fun to ride out.
