The American obsession for "Halls of Fame" is really fascinating: If one is already famous why does one need an entire "hall" (how about a lounge of fame?) to make sure people realize just how famous you really are?

Its the paradox of having a country where "officialdom" is distrusted but where there seems to be a need to have people "officially" sanction just how good you are in any given field...
