JSchmidt - I was referring more specifically to Kenzan's personal experience.

There are quite a few international treaties governing copyright protection - Brussels is coming to mind as the most recent (I think the 70s? Maybe there's been one since). However, like many treaties to which the U.S. is a part, there is always some confusion to the precise extent it allows itself to be bound by them. I would imagine Australia would be a part of that treaty - and that Australia would have its own form of copyright protection that would likely vary a little from American or English copyright.
