I really love Star Trek. I'm not sure if I chose to study space engineering because of Star Trek or if I like Star Trek because of my interesst in space engineering. That said this movie will probably suck really, really bad. The trailer is too much main-stream action for my taste. They are probably just trying to get the kids hooked onto the franchaise so they can sell worthless stuff instead of beeing true to the tv-series or previous movies. The whole concept of a prequel sucks both since prequels usally do and since they won't be able to replicate the the feeling of pre dating TOS, much like the so called "Star Wars" movies that have been coming out lately. That said having Kirk as the main character is exceptionally bad since he did everything by the book while in the academy. His ego/sex-drive didn't kick in until much later. So they can either make him boring or inaccurate. That's a real win-win situation. So to sum things up; I will probably only watch it ONCE, on the opening day.
