I haven't watched the original series in quite some time but I seem to recall Kirk, that dirty dog, enthusiastically rubbing up against everything female in the galaxy (sorry, jealousy shining through). Plus, in his Academy days, he pulled his Kobayashi Maru stunt. So it might not be too big a stretch to see signs of that in his youth as well? Anyway, the movie does look to be more mainstream but I think that's a good thing. The franchise needs to do that or pretty much fade away (which, to me, would be very sad). Plus, Spock has always been #1 in my book so I'm really looking forward to seeing a story about Spock's formative years. Not to mention how entertaining it will be to see him unleash a half-Vulcan smack-down!
