I've actually been working on an article on the topic for a while. This will be a chance for me to try out some of my ideas.
At Ignite talks, the speaker speaks for five minutes while the slides in his or her presentation auto advance every 15 seconds.
I'm still developing my content and need to organize this but intend to follow something like this outline:
-Explain that the title is a tongue in cheek reference to the kinds of Budo-themed business articles that fascinated me as a child in the 1980s when interest in Japan's economic engine was at its height; these books afforded me some of my first glimpses of martial arts literature (example: the business-man themes translations of Book of Five Rings and Sun Tzu)
-Explain that I will not be revealing "secrets" but merely demonstrating that I have been able to apply why I learn and practice as a senior student and coach of a kendo club to team management in a business setting
-Very brief description of kendo
-Some of the main things from kendo that I have applied in management are:
-Rei, manners; seek the proper etiquette to every business situation (meetings, calls, emails, process)
-Task management, performance and flexibility; identify the tasks you have to do, do them, but be prepared to adjust
-Communication and overcommunication; repetition, maxims
-Context; being part of a group; development of individual and development of corporate body/team; a long view; camaraderie
-Hard work, discipline, effort, personal courage, fun
I may not be able to squeeze all that in and may isolate rei, communication/context, flexible task management/collaboration and personal/corporate development but this shows you my thinking.
