An RTO is a "Registered Training Organisation".

Cutie_honey, your link doesn't work for me ( Internet Explorer says it can't display the page).
Unfortunately I don't study kendo, I'm an Aikidoist with an interest in other arts. I don't think there's really an Aikido equivalent to the Australian Kendo Renmei. Although you do raise a rather good point, I should really speak to the people in charge of my style. I'm quite keenly interested in eventually instructing in my art and now that I'm Shodan I'd like to start making some steps towards that.

The sensei at my old dojo never mentioned anything about getting a certificate II/III/IV before he started instructed, only a lot of training. I'm leaning towards thinking this course is a waste of money better spent on other things. Maro, do you know if your situation is the same with most other Martial Arts?
