There's a kanji dictionary/recognizer built into the Japanese font for Windows [Vista and 7, not sure for previous versions].

Recognizes stuff like hira,kana, and kanji. I was able to get 風 [Kaze] and even 程 which happens to be "Ching", my Chinese last name. ["Cheng" according to Google Translator, but I think family tradition > Google, IMO.]

It's called "IME Pad - Hand Writing (JA)". Should be installed along with your Japanese font. I have it activated under a really long list of other programs that I've yet to find the use for.
