BTW, i am intending on getting him involved in real weapons as well. However, i am not sure that he has my confidence yet. The airsoft guns may provide me the opportunity to get some confidence.
Good age to teach him. My 8 & 12 year olds (at the time) could both pick a colored water filled 20oz. bottle off a log at 20 yards with a 357 magnum. They learn fast. the biggest concern with youngsters is the rapid overconfidence. Watch him like a hawk, and demonstrate until it's second nature to him.
Being that young, should something happen to you, training instead of fear will will be a deciding factor. You would never expect anything to happen,,,but if it does,,you'll be glad he can defend himself.
(Start him with ear-plugs also,,,it cuts some of the fear.)
