We have talked about aliens before. But here is my take. There is a lot of evidence of aliens visiting the Earth, but none of it is solid scientific evidence. So the lack of solid evidence plus the difficulties associated with space travel due to relativity make me inclined to believe that visitation is not occurring. I could be wrong, aliens could be here but are being careful not to leave evidence behind, but the simplest explanation is that there is no evidence because they are not here.
I don't think that people who believe aliens are here are delusional or mentally unstable, I just think they are wrong.
So, are there aliens somewhere out there? Mathematically it would seem probable. But here too we have a problem. Even our most conservative estimates would indicate that the galaxy should be teeming with technologically advanced civilizations, but we have not detected any sign of them so far. The fact that the galaxy seems to be devoid of interstellar communications, as far as we can tell, must be significant. We can only assume that we are the only ones at this particular time. I know it seems unlikely, but until we detect an unambiguously artificial signal from another star system, that is the conclusion we must draw.
