October 13, 1307 was known as Black Friday when Pope Clement V and King Philip IV conspired together and had secret orders sent out all over Europe to arrest every Knight Templar. They were arrested, tortured and most killed. That's when they went underground and the Masonic Lodge became so secretive. Being a member openly in those days meant arrest torture and death.

I could tell you more but then I'd have to kill you.

I have all my Grandpa's and Father's secret books....muhaaahhahaa!!!!
(they don't let womens in, but I know all the good secrets)

Seriously though, one of the best history books you can ever read is called
"Born In Blood". It's a historical account of the events known about the origins of the Mason Lodge and the Knights Templar (which dates back to King Soloman days). That's a great book that gets into all the political history of the world back in those days. I highly recommend it for anyone who likes reading factual history.
Thanks for the info Kay. My father was a mason but he never really talked about the organization. I'll have to put "Born In Blood" on my to read list.
