It really is amazing how no member of the military has been called on the carpet for the incredible FUBAR'd response of the military on 9-11-01. Even before that day planes ROUTINELY intercepted planes that are off course or entering restricted air space. Yet that day it didn't happen. Why?

Did you read the other thread posted by random? NEADS was trying to locate the planes to intercept them, but couldn't. In a "ROUTINE" intercept a plane is usually still squawking a transponder code so it can be tracked. Planes that are simply off course and inadvertantly entering restricted airspace are not trying to avoid detection the way that the 9-11 planes were, so they would be more easily intercepted. It also didn't help things, that the interceptor pilots knew there was going to be a simulation on Sept. 11th so when they were ordered to Washington, they assumed it was the exercise and flew to a training area instead.
