I additionally have one other 'general' question about my system that would go right along with the "Why in the heck" thread topic.
I do realize Windows XP professional will only allocate (originally) up to 2GB of system RAM. I did, however, remove two of the 512MB modules and install two 2GB sticks, leaving two 512MB modules behind. Pointless, I know, having a little over 5GB of DDR2 installed on a 32bit system. I left them installed. So, that being said, I eventually found the method to update the "boot.ini" file with the "/3GB" launch option to make Windows recognize (at least 3GB, I'm hoping) some of the extra RAM I've installed. What I can't understand, and I've been told, that Windows will actually, or can meet the 4GB threshold. I'm not accomplishing that. System Information reports 3GB now, but general system information still only reports 2GB. Of course, there is a variance from apps from MSCONFIG and general windows info. Hey, maybe one of you guys can elaborate on this a little further. Everything is much appreciated.
