If the Obama Administration caves on this, the GOP will win. They will blame Pres. Obama and the Democrats for "cutting Medicare" all the way to the 2012 elections. If the administration doesn't cave and the debt limit expires and causes even a little bit of a meltdown, the Republicans will again blame Pres. Obama and the Democrats for "crashing the economy by not reining in the debt."

This is a really really bad game of chicken. I'm not sure how the Democrats will counter this attack.
