Default WI Recall Elections: 3 Republicans hold their seats, 2 Dems win, 1 TBD
In the two races than have yet to be called, both have a Dem lead of 51-49 at this moment.

So it appears that two more will flip to Dem control tonight unless there's an unanticipated surge from a heavy GOP stronghold in those districts.

Alongside this group of Republicans weathering recall votes, three Democrats also face recalls. One of those elections happened last week and the Dem incumbent won handily. Two more take place next week.

When all the dust settles, Democrats will need to emerge with a net of three new seats to take control of the Wisconsin Senate. If tonight's current trajectory holds, they'll capture three seats tonight. The spotlight then moves to holding on to the two seats being challenged next week.

If they can win tonight and hold on next week, they'll have control of the Senate, in a major rebuke to WI Governor Scott Walker and the GOP-led Senate, following their landmark and very messy legislative push to strip union rights in a state that basically gave birth to the modern union movement.

Live vote count tallies here: http://talkingpointsmemo.com/news/scoreboard.php

10:52 PM: We're coming up on our third hour of vote counting. And the picture is pretty clear: Republicans have all but certainly won three of the six races of the evening. To retake the state senate Dems have to win all three remaining races. And at the moment they're leading in all three. Just not by big margins or with too little of the vote in to have a clear sense of the final result. Got that? Good.

10:57 PM: More news out of district 18. The Republican Hopper has just reclaimed a narrow 2 point lead, now with a big 79% reporting. However, all the remaining votes appear to be in a county the Democrat King has been winning. Simply too close to call.
