Default Keith Olbermann and MSNBC part ways
NY Times: http://mediadecoder.blogs.nytimes.co...down-on-msnbc/

Good for Lawrence O'Donnell. Smart guy with a good show. Keith is talented at what he does, but I think it's time to re-invent himself. Maybe he'll take his show to the Internet. Maybe Fox will scoop him up.

Some of the initial commentary online suggests that these types of terse and abrupt separations and statements generally happen when a host is found to be negotiating a move to competitor. We'll see soon enough, I guess.

MSNBC and Keith Olbermann have ended their contract, the network said Friday night.

“This is the last edition of Countdown,” Mr. Olbermann said at the end of his program. “Let me thank my gifted staff here, and just a few of the many people who fought with me and for me.”

In a statement, MSNBC said it “thanks Keith for his integral role in MSNBC’s success and we wish him well in his future endeavors.”

The network said that starting Monday, “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell” would move to 8 p.m., and “The Ed Show,” hosted by Ed Schultz, will move to 10 p.m.
