What the heck is going here? It's not like any this stuff happened fifty years ago. Is it collective amnesia or is it something else? Perhaps our political imagination and curiosity are so choked off by such narrow ideological collars that we have little room to explore anymore. Go right this much or, go left that much, that's all we can do under such constraints. Stay even a little bit and we're quickly jerked back to center by some pretty heavy-handed tactics.
