Studies have shown again and again that languages are best learned at an early age. Europeans encourage multilingualism, including compulsory education from primary through undergraduate degree. In the Arab nations, multilingualism is also taught from an early age, with courses such as math and science taught in English. French is also considered a second language in many Arabic countries.

I learned a second language in junior high school, but I would like to see the U.S. require second language courses required in primary education and continued throughout undergraduate schooling. We definitely need to incorporate Spanish as a second language in American; after all, Hispanic and Latino populations are growing rapidly on this continent and the adjacent continent.
