Furthermore the President believes that the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) is Constitutional.

The Justice Department issued a statement saying Obama wants the law repealed "because it prevents LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) couples from being granted equal rights and benefits. However, until Congress passes legislation repealing the law, the administration will continue to defend the statute when it is challenged in the justice system."

It is undeniable that the President is willing to accept discrimination when it is applied to homosexuals. It is therefore unlikely that the President would buy the argument that denying gays the "right" to marry is similar to laws that forbid marriage between people of different races.
