It doesn't make much sense to separate the armed forces of EU member states. They should be considered as EU armed forces because they are bound together by numerous treaties, such as the Common Security and Defence Policy and Common Foreign and Security Policy, and work under the European Defence Agency.

The EU's armed forces rank second in the world, with an annual budget of nearly $300 billion. That's still less than half the US's budget, but it is three times more than Russia ($30 billion) and China ($70 billion) combined.
