We at the Gran Alacant Advertiser have been involved in helping with this continual problem and when at a press release at the Town Hall this week took the opportunity again to discuss this problem
We are waiting a reply from Gama the owners of the centre to firstly ascertain whether they are indeed responsible for the area.
If they are not, the bar owners will have to form a committee among themselves and discuss taking on the cleanliness of the area.
They have already between themselves appointed someone to reguarly clean the steps and slope
If the bars can get Gama to agree, there can then perhaps be someone employed to look after the whole area, with the costs shared between the bars
It would not be very fair to boycott these bars, when the leaseholders have been continuously thwarted in their efforts to get something done
The GA Councillor is helping to get the ball rolling and then it will be up to everybody to pitch in and keep the area clean and tidy
Heres hoping!!!!
By the way. The press announcement we were invited to at the Town Hall was to announce the big bowling event to take place at the Monte Mar bowls club on September 19th-20th-21st
It will be an event jointly run by the bowls club and the Town Hall.
The Town Hall will be footing the bill for free food and drinks at the ticket only event and have provided all bowls entrants with a towel with the Santa Pola name on, to help promote the area.
There are to be 72 entrants in the first Santa Pola Open Mixed Triples event.
This is hoped to be a yearly event with participants from Spain and the UK
Total prize money of 1200 euros will be up for grabs
The final evening will include food, drink and Flamenco Dancing
Advertising leaflets will be distributed around the area
