Let me pose this question: When he made the promise to get the troops out of Iraq by XXXXXX what did you think when he said that? He was blowing smoke? How did you feel when he actually did?

Gee let me hop back in my time machine, roll the calendar back to 2003, so we all can re-enjoy the whole of OIF.

Who promised to get troops out of Iraq by a certain date? As I recall in 2007 GWB and PM Maliki signed both the SOFA and the documents that began the US withdrawal process. I know this because a few years later presto there I was in Iraq as OIF turned into OND and it wasn't Obama's ink on the page that made that happen. Of course, that didn't stop Obama from taking credit now did it. All the sudden as the success of the surge was validated and the end was in sight Obama started talking like the biggest hawk in the roost.

How did I feel about it? I didn't. You see, we're in the military. It doesn't matter how one "feels". We exist to do what we are directed to do. We do not have to like it. We just gotta do it. Sure, I think it's pretty ignorant to telegraph firm withdrawal dates like what we've done with OEF. But when I deploy over there it doesn't matter. I just gotta do it.
