I am tired of the PT double standard! Comparing office workers that do not work shifts, or weekends and that can close down to do PT, to maintainers and Cops who can not stop working to do PT. Let's not sugar coat it, most maintainers did not get PT time "on duty" during the manditory time, they just extended your duty day. It is nearly impossible to do it "on duty time" when you are working shift work around the clock. You are talking about people that get time to go eat a "healthy" lunch vs. a box lunch on the flight line. You are taling about people that do not have there sleep schedule interupted weekly by being called in at 0200 or having to switch shifts in the middle of the week. They tell us to be healthy, we need to get good rest and eat healthy, try doing that being a maintainer. Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining about my job. We are the AIR FORCE and I put jets in the Air to Fight and Kill and LOVE IT!!! Just do not feed me this line of healthy living and then ask me to work days two days, then come in on Mids for a day, work 12 hours Sat and Sunday, or had to work holidays (because the terrorists do not take days off or celebrate US holidays) w/o comp time because we do not have enough people to give it to you! I think PT is a great idea, I am just tired of being held to the same standard as people who get time to go do it...let one of you tell the commander, I am sorry sir we are not going to be able to fly today because we have to do PT and see how that is taken. We can't even get the acft down to do training let alone PT! Let's be real the PT program has a long way to go and we have admitted that it needs to be looked at, like a guy 6'4 haveing the same waist as a guy 5'5, soon 100lbs will be a 4 man lift, but either way, it should not be costing people there career at this point when know won knows the right way to do it! I hear people say we are using it to cut the force, I hope we as an AF would not be throwing our own out into this troubled economy, if you haven't noticed jobs are hard to come by right now.
doing PU and SU and a 1.5 mile run takes 20 minutes of your day. You can't find for that? Bring a lunch from home.

Other things you can do. hang a sign by a door everytime you walk in or out or everytime you launch a jet you do 10 pushups or situps depending on the day. You can end up doing hundreds of pushups and situps during a day then all you have to do is find 15 minutes to run.
