Oh dear
One week after the new terrorist laws were presented in parliament, laws that will give virtually unlimited powers to the police and government, among them shoot to kill on suspicion, being put in jail for 12 months for talking against the government, etc, etc, last night state and federal police raid, arrest and shoot terrorist suspects, on what looked like mass operations on homes in Melbourne and Sydney.
Is it just me, but what they showed on TV that was 'evidence' was bullshit, and things that you would generally find in a persons home anyway?
And in one case, they arrested the 'suspects' because they bought laboratory equipment, and they happened to ask the sellers if they had chemicals too? So because of that question, and of course because they looked like arabs, they get arrested?
I hope that they will have or fabricate better evidence than that in court, otherwise watch the outcry!
It is just a bit 'convenient' how the government has trouble passing the new terrorism act, and this largest ever anti terorism operation happens just as the act is being debated in parliament!
Oh yes, and how funny was the list of the people that they arrested?
The list read something like 15 names all sounding like Ahmed Hamdullah, Hassan Achmat, etc, and the last name was Shane Kent? What the hell was that last one doing on that list? Or did they put him there to show that the police is not racist and not just arresting arabs?
Kind of reminded me of Robin Williams in his stand up show describing the suspect passenger lists on planes - multiple arabic names followed by one english name.
