I never really see the purpose in them. We live in a world where you do not need to ever carry $10k in cash, and I am not a rapper, so I don't have $50k in jewelry I need to store. At most i'd put a video camera/camera/laptop in there. Wallet is in my back pocket, I have my passport on me if I am in another country. If you have Jewel's, etc., put them in the main safe that does have insurance, not the one that says they are not responsible.

Agreed. If I have jewelry (mostly just a watch), I wear it. If I am traveling abroad, I carry my passport. We live in the plastic age, so most people do not carry large sums of cash. Having that said, I have left cash and valuables on counters in hotels ranging from 2 to 5 stars, and I never had anything stolen. If people are desperate enough to risk their job and steal your goods, they'll find a way to do it regardless of the safety measures you have in place.
