What about other features?
  • Do the windsheild wipers turn on automatically? What about the lighting (headlights and internal)?
  • How is the interface to your phone? Can you play music? Phone calls?
  • Auto dimming rear view?
  • Electronic seats? Heated seats?
Sorry, for what seems petty, but I own a car that has all of this now, and I am very used to it.
One of the things you'll notice when stepping into the volt is that most of the expense has gone into the driving system. The amount of sensors, safety mechanisms and driving assist options is unlike I have ever seen. They want you driving as efficiently as possible to get the most out of the electric charge, which is their primary selling point. The experience cannot be fully appreciated until you sit behind the wheel and drive one.

Here are a few surprises:

The Good
  • Voice activated everything
  • Bluetooth connectivity with your phone to make calls, play spotify ,pandora or your music library.
  • Weather Apps
  • And insane amount of driving options and assists to keep you driving efficiently. (Keep that green ball in the center!)
  • On Star Navigation. For $5 your car gets its own phone number and 60 minutes in case you need to make a call via satellite if there is no cell signal.
  • Heated Seats. Auto dimming rearview auto lighting.
  • Front camera for driving distance and assist. Rear camera for back-up assist. Two side cameras for parking and lane-switching assist.
The Puzzling (as in, this car is $50k but somehow misses these features)
  • Manual seats (!)
  • No Sunroof option (!!)
  • Wipers are manual (meh)
  • No option for rooftop solar cells (Prius has this)
  • Lack of ball washer
