It's freaking Batman... and you're complaining about realism?

Strangely enough, that prison actually fits Batman canon / lore, where there is a Lazarus Pit with regenerative features. It fits the lore, but it doesn't really suit the tone of the movies, so it's there, but it's not explained. If you're a big fan, you'll find it awesome that it's there; if you don't care, you won't mind; and if you're just not aware of all Batman lore and you think you've found a plothole... You end up being sort of wrong!

(I thought it was really, really weird too.)
