When the director and producers go directly use the worlds "realistic" and "Gritty" its fair game, thats what they angled batman on.

I don't think they meant it literally... they meant it within the confines of the world Batman occupies... where you can ram a persons head through a brick wall, and 2 minutes later they're fine... or break their spine so badly it protrudes through their skin, but a quick sharp punch on the wound has miraculous healing effects. Or flying out 12+ miles to sea within 2 minutes and somehow bailing and swimming to Italy. That kind of realism...

Bitching that one thing is not realistic when virtually nothing else is really, it ludicrous. Even for pre-pubescent guys.
