Hurricane Irene? No, Steam is a disaster.
As everyone outside of Valve knows, there was a hurricane on the east coast this week-end.
Here is my story.
As the storm hit, my Internet connection was taken out but I still had power. I figured that the best way to live through a hurricane than Arrogant ******* Ale and tons of PC games, here is the beer:
After putting a few back, I launch Steam:
I waited until I saw this:
I clicked "Start In Offline Mode" and saw this:
I hit
OK
and Steam closes entirely.
I tried again, this time trying to cancel the
Update
nothing. I tried
Retry Connection
: nothing. I even tried putting donuts into the ROM drive to bribe it a bit figuring that Gabe put a couple of Easter eggs in the software, but it appears that he ate those all too.
Long story short: I own almost 100 games on Steam, meaning Valve has
thousands
of dollars of my money, but I could not play games that I have legitimately purchased because Steam needed to update.
What a ****ing piece of ****.
