One of the best places not mentioned is Key West. It's fairly cheap there, and there is never a lack of bars and restaurants to visit. Renting a scooter and driving around town is a blast. The only thing it doesn't have are the beautiful, sandy beaches that the Gulf Coast is so renowned for.
