I think I phrased it badly. When I ask what more is there to NYC, I mean "how is there so much more than Chicago?" rather than "how is there so muich more than 5 days worth?".

I know 5 days gets you the typical sight-seeing stuff without going deep at all. But too much more than that and i'd be bored anyway. Spara said NYC = 2 months worth and Chicago = 1 days worth. Just sounded a bit of an exaggeration.

I would say to feel satisfied with visiting NYC by seeing 1-2% of what's there to be seen and hitting 10% of the tourist spots, you need about 1 week.

Chicago you'll need 2-3 days.

But NYC you can visit over and over again, without repeating anything. Chicago will probably start to wear after about 10 days total.
